Our History

Throughout history, The Vinton County National Bank has been led by many outstanding bank Presidents. The list of Presidents from the founding of the bank until present is as follows:

  • Daniel Will (1869-1924)
  • Aaron Will, Jr. (1924-1938)
  • John L. Will (1938-1951)
  • Robert B. Will (1951-1965)
  • John G. Will (1965-1978)
  • Robert B. Will Jr. (1978-1984)
  • George Booth (1984 - 1988)
  • Steve Hunter (1988-2008)
  • Ron Collins (2008- Present)

Timeline

1867

The Vinton County National Bank was founded. The McArthur Office at 112 W. Main St. is the original location of The Vinton County National Bank.

1974

The bank expanded and opened the Wilkesville location.

1978

First drive-thru depot opened at the McArthur Branch.

1981

The charter to operate a bank holding company known as Community Bancshares, Inc. was approved.

1984

CBI acquired the First Bremen Bank.

1985

The Lancaster East Main Street location was acquired.

1989

The Lancaster West Fair office was purchased.

1993

The two Chillicothe banking locations were purchased.

2002

The brand new Canal Winchester location opened for business.

2007

VCNB purchased two locations in Laurelville and one in Tarlton. A newly constructed Bremen Bank of Pataskala was built.

2008

The Richmond Dale and Logan banking offices were purchased.

2009

All Community Bancshares Inc. banks became The Vinton County National Bank under one national charter.

2010

Construction of a new building in Logan on Hunter Street began and is to be completed by fall of 2011.

2013

The Vinton County National Bank has 13 offices in 7 counties throughout Southeastern and Central Ohio. Our assets have grown to over 750 million.
